Research Commission: Ground Lease Valuation and Analysis

The Foundation is pleased to announce that it has commissioned Mark McNamara in research titled “Ground Lease Valuation & Analysis”. 

This assignment is a separate undertaking to our research into Ground Lease Rent Determinations. 

The aim of research paper is to critically examine the conventional techniques adopted by the valuation profession for estimating leasehold interests in New Zealand and formulate a valuation model which provides a logical and accurate basis for valuing such interests.


Mark, holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Valuation & Property Management) Master of Property Studies (Lincoln University), Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance (Securities Institute of Australia) is a Registered Valuer and is the Managing Director of Property Sphere Consultancy Auckland.

Mark practices as a valuer and has researched and written a number of papers on and around this subject published in New Zealand professional property journals.

We look forward to completion of the paper in the second half of 2019.
